Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will:

  • Be able to discuss the history, prevalence and incidence of HIV and AIDS (Matt McMillan).
  • Identify the cause of HIV infection and the mechanisms of infection and transmission of HIV, including epidemiology, immunology, virology opportunistic infections, and promising research (Matt McMillan)
  • Be familiar with behavior and attitudes Relevant to the prevention of HIV and AIDs. (Susan McMillan)
  • Be familiar with issues specific to women and pediatric AIDs (Susan McMillan)
  • Have knowledge of current Florida Law re: Testing, Confidentiality of test results, Treatment of Patients, Reporting, and HIV testing to pregnant women (Matt McMillan)
